The ARDS is characterized by an overreaction of the immune system. The result is a massive inflammatory cell infiltration and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines including interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8, IL-1β, interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (GSCF), monocyte chemo-attractant protein 1 (MCP1), macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha and 1 beta (MIP1A, MIP1B), tumor nec

rosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), CCL-2, CCL-3, CCL-5, and interferon γ inducible protein (IP-10) [19, 22].

These proteins attract macrophages, monocytes, and T cells to the infection site promoting additional inflammation and beginning a pro-inflammatory feedback loop. Thereby, the malfunctioning immune response conduces to further accumulation of immune cells in the lungs.

This accumulation triggers a pro-inflammatory cytokine overproduction which eventually damages the lung structure [23]. Like in other coronavirus infections, during COVID-19 there is an attempt to repair and remodeling the lungs by fibroproliferation.

We didn't prove that. We did find that in autopsied Alzheimer's patients' brains, sitting right next to damaged neurons, there are activated T cells that recognize EBV. We believe these T cells may be contributing to neurodegeneration.

We found them hanging around the scene of the crime. I don't think these cells are innocent bystanders that just happen to be there and aren't doing anything.

만성이든 급성이든 간에 이론적으로 줄기세포의 면역 조절 및 정상화 기능에 기대할 만한 근거라 추측되며

나아가 암 예방과 치료효과를 또한 기대하는 근거가 됩니다.

면역항암제나 최근의 치매 진전완화제인 아두카누맙의 FDA 허가과정에서 나타나는 경향은

겨우 몇 개월의 생명연장이나 임상데이타상 통계적으로 유의성이 낮아도 대책이 없으니

많은 논란이 있음에도 시판을 허가를 하는 추세입니다.

알츠하이머 환자의 뇌부검을 통해 발견된 사항은 EB바이러스를 인식하는 활성화된 T세포의 존재가

결국 신경세포의 기능을 퇴화시켜 치매를 일으킨다는 추정으로 치매 역시 잘못된 면역반응으로 인해

신경세포의 기능상실로 발병한다는 가설로 역시 줄기세포에 의한 예방 및 치료에 많은 기대를 갖게하는

근거가 됩니다.
